Czark Mak Corporation kicked off a tree planting activity last June 20, 2022 in the La Mesa Nature Reserve as part of its efforts to help improve environmental sustainability in partnership with the Bantay Kalikasan program of the ABS-CBN Foundation.
The La Mesa Watershed project is one of the foundation’s flagship programs that aims to protect and enrich one of Metro Manila’s remaining forests. The watershed serves as a vital component of the metro’s water system which provides the drinking water of millions of residents within the National Capital Region.
To date, the program has rehabilitated 1,552 hectares amounting to over 1 million trees planted, grown, and protected since its inception 20 years ago. This also includes the establishment of protocols and systems to ensure a successful and sustainable reforestation based on science and best practices.
For its part, the Czark Mak Corporation (CZM) adopted 1 hectare of land to help bolster the project’s forest conservation efforts. The activity was spearheaded by CZM Director Mr. Frank Parulan, HR and Admin Head Nathalie Francisco, together with a small team of company officers and employees to kick off the program.
The tree planting activity will be an ongoing project for CZM which will be sending company officers and employees in small batches. This is in strict compliance to the social distancing guidelines imposed by the La Mesa Nature Reserve and LGU.
